Five Questions To Ask Your Real Estate Agent

By Heather Mellican

Choosing the right real estate agent to sell your home can sometimes be confusing and overwhelming, as most homeowners don’t sell their home very often.

Here are some questions you should ask your agent to see if they are the right fit for you.

Past Performance: Knowing what sales in your area your agent has been involved with can give a great indication of their track record. Past performance is the best indicator of future behaviour so sussing out their sale history will help you know their experience.

Market Knowledge: Your agent’s market knowledge can make all the difference, and give you an understanding of how your sale will go. An understanding and awareness of houses sold in your area and knowledge of market conditions can sometimes make up for a lack of track record.

Recommendations: Viewing an agent’s testimonials can give you a great idea of the service they provided to past vendors.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions: Agents will come prepared with a presentation, but don’t be afraid to ask questions that are important to you along the way. Make sure you leave completely satisfied and informed.

Marketing: Knowing what marketing will take place will prepare you for the practical implications of running a campaign to sell your home.
