What to look for when inspecting a property

By Heather Mellican

Location and lifestyle: Consider what amenities are close by and how they fit into your lifestyle. Depending on your lifestyle, you may consider certain things to be important such as proximity to schools, transport or parks. Remember you can change the house but you can’t change it’s location. Let there be light: Take note of how much natural light enters the living areas and garden. Not only will this add a great atmosphere to the home but also save on energy. (Pictured: 21 Scarlet Drive, Bundoora)

Noise: When inspecting a home remember to think about what noises you can hear. Once you move in there is no going back so make sure you can live with the noises that come with the home.

Floor plan: Sometimes it’s not easy to change a floor plan so make sure it fits in with your lifestyle and needs. If you’re an entertainer, an open floor plan will probably cater to you better than enclosed rooms.

A keen eye: Make sure you take everything in and take into account any faults that may come with the home and the costs associated with fixing them.
