Watching your home go under the hammer can be a daunting time. According to CoreLogic RP Data, over the 2014/2015 financial year more than 25 per cent of all homes listed were done so through an auction. Back in 2008, that number was just 16 per cent.
With auctions becoming a more popular way to sell your home, how can you help take the stress out of the process?
Choose the right agent: Having a reliable real estate agent will do wonders for your stress levels. Making the right choice and ensuring they are the right fit for you is important as they will be the one steering the ship. They will take care of everything from advertising and negotiating, to choosing the perfect auctioneer for the day.
Fix the flaws: Don’t live in hope that the buyers won’t notice that small hole in the wall or chipped paint on the windowsill. Go to the effort to make any small fixes your home may need. Knowing the blemishes are there, will only accentuate your nerves during auction time when people are inspecting your property.
Prepare yourself: Try not to wind yourself up on auction day. If you’re home sells you can pop open the champagne, however if not, there are always plenty of opportunities to still get a great result after auction.
